Also referred to as “Two-Factor Authentication” (2FA), Two-Step Verification essentially adds an extra layer of security to your Wealthsimple profile.
When activated, Wealthsimple requires two “factors” to allow you to access your account - your password and your verification code (which can be sent via SMS, email or authenticator application). When enabled, you need both (not either) your password and your smartphone to gain access making it more difficult for unauthorized access to your accounts.
To enable two-factor authentication (2FA) on your Wealthsimple Trade account, please follow the steps below!
Wealthsimple Trade Application: Click on the left-hand menu and select Settings. Within the settings, you should see the Security section that will show the prompt for Two-step authentication, select this and pick your preferred verification method!
Wealthsimple Trade Web: Hover over your name in the top right corner and select Settings. Within the settings, you should see the Security tab. Once here, select the Two-step authentication option and pick your preferred verification method!
If you’re unable to access your account or you become locked out due to your 2FA, please call our general support team at 1-855-255-9038 between the hours of 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EDT from Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM EDT on Fridays.
When calling in, please press 3 and our team will be happy to get these settings updated for you!
